What’s in a Name?

A lot of people have asked me the name of “that diet I am doing” and, of course, I don’t have one. I have not become a vegetarian, or vegan…I am not doing any diet that requires a trademark symbol after its name…I don’t really know what to call it!

I did just read a passage in Animal, Vegetable, Miracle that I feel sums it up, so I’ll throw it out there.

“It’s hard to reduce our modern complex of food choices to unifying principles, but this one that generally works: eating home-cooked meals from whole, in-season ingredients obtained from the most local source available is eating well, in every sense. Good for the habitat, good for the body.”

Of course, the changes I have made have not just been dietary…I adopted a more regular schedule, got my sleep patterns on track, and exercise even more regularly and more conscientiously than I was before. I think of it as not just eating well but “living well.” Whatever you call it, I’m liking it!
